Lance Neal:

The Artist:

"I must be the most famous unknown artist and the oldest "blue baby" in the world. Born in Cashmere, Washington, U.S.A., in 1944, I wasn't expected to live longer than four to five years. Around two years of age I began to draw".

As a result of his heart condition Lance's childhood was limited to observing nature and those around him, and painting. He sold his first painting when he was 14 years old and since then he has made a living from his art. Although he has painted some 1,300 oil paintings and about 4,000 elaborate drawings, he is still "unknown", as most of his paintings are sold direct and are private collections all over the world, especially in the U.S.A., Japan and Ireland. Lance has his own personality of his subjects, in landscapes and seascapes he reproduces the atmosphere, tranquillity, serenity or the turmoil of the scene.

Glendalough:

"I came, I saw, I fell in love with and I stayed. The beauty of Glendalough and the surrounding areas, has been inspiration for much of my work. I can understand why St. Kevin chose this place".
