birds of the valley

While many of the bird species breeding in the valley are associated with the native oakwoods and moorlands, many have found a niche among the young coniferous plantations. Here the Meadow Pipet (top), usually found on Heather moorlands, uses the sitka spruce tree as a vantage point. Reed Bunting (Lower) more at home in the waterside scrub, have adapted to the thickening conifers.
